I have been taking modafinil recently and although it makes me a bit jittery and overfocused - ( taking some Klonopin helps) - after a few days I am finally feeling some motivation and energy , in fact too much at night , I can hardly sleep, ( but that is no complaint after 8 months in a coma) .
My questions are :
1. Why would the glutamate release make me feel better when stuf like Adderall, and other stimulants did not?
2. Is this likely to be a transient response?
3. Is glutamate not harmful to brain cells? I keep hearing this... do I need to take an antioxidant or something to protect my brain ( already taking Lithium)
4. Does glutamate interfere with neuronal growth ( especially in the hipocampus)?
5. Is an excess of glutamate not considered one of the *theories* behing bipolar, that is : too much = mania , too little = bipolar style depression?
Thanks, I know thats a long list of stuff, but I would be curious to know any answers to these questions . ThanksJB
