I started 2 mg Amblify on Tuesday to augment 60 mg Cymbalta. I stopped taking the Abilify on Friday because of increased anxiety feelings.
On Saturday, I got this amazing CALM come over me (almost euphoric feeling). I got a great sense of well-being, possibly from the regulation of dopamine? That only lasted Saturday.
Did I not give Abilify enough time? Is it possible that the shaky, "anxiety" feelings I got were only symtoms of akathisia that could go away with time?
Does anyone have any possible explainations for the way I felt on Saturday?
Also, THANK YOU so much for everyone who continually responds to my posts and for sharing your experiences and knowledge! I have learned so much and have by reading everyone's past and present postings. :)

I'm not sure rosa, but could the euphoria be partly due to the relief of getting rid of the akathisia? Dopamine very likely plays a part in this, but I wouldn't personally rely on Abilify to give this effect over the long term. If it is affecting your dopamine receptors to such an extent to cause an EPS how can you be comfortable there will be no long term damage if you were to take it for years?

First time I took Abilify it made me horribly anxious, jumpy and generally freaked out so I stopped. After a short period of time I tried it again for some reason, titrating more slowly, and it has since turned out to be the best thing I have ever taken. I care about things, people again; I have motivation, Im much more involved in my own life and life seems generally to be a good thing, not just something to be endured. I'm really grateful I tried it again. Not lobbying for you to do same, just sharing my experience.
Good luck,
Suzie

Suzie, I assume the anxiety eventually subsided?

I am only starting week 3 of Abilify but I feel that it has helped me enormously. My major complaint has been insomnia but that seems to be letting up at this point. I know it's hard when you're anxious to be even more anxious and tough it out. I'm only on 5mg and don't know if I'll go up or not. Seem to be doing ok where I'm at. Good luck with your decision.

The anxiety didnt even appear the second time I started on it. For me, I think it was a matter of treating it with more respect in terms of dosing and titrating, then it worked wonders for me.
