New to Effexor

Posted by Taran on October 31, 2006, at 12:18:25

I started taking Effexor one week ago. 37.5 mg. Will go to 75 mg tomorrow (for another week), then to 102.5 for a week. Back to the doc after that. So far I've had no side effects (except for a headache on the weekend, when I took my dosage much later in the morning than I usually do), but I also don't feel any better. Am I being unrealistic to think I'd feel anything by now? I also take Wellbutrin (450 mg) and I remember that with that I felt better by the first week. Would love to hear other's experiences.

IMO, you feeling no adverse effects is a 'good sign', and it could be when dosage up to 75mg might feel some 'relief'.

I agree with corafree. Having "no side effects" or effects during the first week ccould be good. I felt "something" upon taking my first dose of Effexor, almost like it was what my body needed to get my neurotransmitters on the right track. I'll keep my fingers crossed that this happens for you soon too. IMO, Effexor is a very good AD despite what others might have reported about their experiences with it on this board. I have stopped it to try other ADs but have recently come back to it again!

Colleen really can you say why? I ask cause I briefly tried it years ago and I must find something to work. Thanks Love Phillipa
