My sister is so fed up with years
of unbearable medications and hard work, that she
is threatening to stop taking them.
The last time she did this she almost
killed herself. She forgets how bad depression
can be.She told her dr. recently, that she is tempted to do this and the dr. said you better tell your
family that. Now she is threatening to do
it again. This is very stressful for
her family -- what is the family supposed to do?Squiggles

Squiggles has she actually stopped them? Or just threatening to? I don't think you can take out an involuntary committment unless she is actively suicidal. So try and point out what happened the last time she did and try and convince her to stay on them. I don't know what else you can do. Love phillipa

phillipa,
I convinced her of what a bad idea it is; and
she will see a dr. soon about it. Remember
what i said once (well maybe you don't) that
many people get off their meds because of the
unbearable side effects... it's a real problem.
Anyway, for now all is well -- i certainly would not want to be in a position of taking aggressive action on this; on the other hand, i would not
want to see someone reach a suicidal state. It's a real bummer.
Thanks very much for your help. I really
don't need this crap.Squiggles
