I take 2400mg/day of Neurontin. My doc, who admittedly has no experience with Lyrica, gave me a script of 25 mg pills. Seems like even starting at 75 might be quite low. What think?

yeah, the 300-600 range sounds attractive. if i am on a high dose of neurontin, can i start at a higher dose of lyrica?

Hi,
I just recently start lyrica and was on 1800-2100mg of neurontin. I have been substituting one 100mg lyrica for one 300mg neurontin. So far, this did not seem too high. I have been alternating between the two. I have gotten up to 300mg of lyrica within a week. Too fast? Hard to tell yet! I seem to be tolerating it fairly well. Some headaches, and a little dizziness.

It all depends on what you are taking it for, i.e., epilepsy, pain, diabetic neuropathy, or anxiety and depression. Usually if you are taking Lyrica, there is no need to take neurontin also (this is the case especially when taking it for anxiety and depression)..Lyrica is pretty much a new improved version of neurontin. For me, neurontin did nothing (i was taking it for anxiety/depression) but, Lyrica has changed my life big time. Lyrica is 3-10 times more powerful than neurontin.
Okay, here it is in a nut shell. Low dose Lyrica = sedation, high dose Lyrica (usually 4-600 mgs. a day) = energizing effect. I started at 50 mgs. t.i.d. and for the first week and a half, i felt sedated. My dose was titrated slowly to 300 mgs. b.i.d., and when i got to 500 mgs. a day, i noticed a big increase in energy, elimination of anxiety and depression, pro-social effect and an increase in motivation and the ability to really enjoy life. Lyrica has been my miracle medication, and has been working well for me for about 2 1/2 months now. Good Luck to you.

Just wanted to clarify something. I haven't been feeling well for 2 1/2 mos., but, the Lyrica has been working well for me for that long...confusing i know, i could feel the lyrica kick in about 2.5 mos. ago, and experienced intermittent wellness, but it wasn't until i got off the EMSAM about 3 weeks ago that i started to feel very well on a reguler daily basis.
I just didn't want to confuse you. So, i can really say i have been feeling very well for about 3 weeks! :)-Monte
p.s. How are you feeling on the Lyrica now, and what dose are you on?

I have been on 150 for a few days. I am going to go up to 225mg and stay there for a week until I see my doctor again. I have no choice. I wish I could continue to raise the dosage.I have been feeling glimpses of wellnesses.
I do get feelings of intoxication upon dosage increases. It doesn't last longer than half a day, though. I experience negative cognitive side effects during this time. I am not worried, though. I think they will disappear with time. They seem to clear up between dosage increases.
I look forward to climbing the ladder and joining you at 600mg.

I think it would be pretty cool to add Nardil to this.
