Another use for amisulpride: taking it as needed

Posted by flip-floppy on September 5, 2006, at 1:56:40

Taking a single dose of up to 300 mg amisulpride produces what I believe to be a surge in dopamine. At least, whenever I take amisulpride as needed, it gives me a clearly stimulating, yet calming effect.

Well, it is not what I heard of it. Conventionalists say amisulpride's dopaminergic effect loses at the dose mentioned above. I would be most interested to know other's responses to this post.
Cheers

I have never tried a dose so large--I'm one of those who get a significant degree of sedation on amisulpride--but so far, I have found it to be most beneficial at doses of around 15-20 mg. That was the dose that seemed to elevate mood most, whereas above 25mg, it seemed to have a more restraining, antipsychotic effect. 50 was too much.

It's documented that dosages up to 300 mg block the presynaptic dopamine D2/D3 autoreceptors, which leads to an increase in dopaminergic transmission.

For more info, see http://www.priory.com/focus13.htm

Nevertheless, the surge in dopamine diminishes if amisulpride is taken every day (in my experience.) Try taking 200 mg after at least a week of abstinence from amisulpride.

Amisulpride was a amazing solution for me.
The only one that really worked for my dystimie, anergie and aphatie.
The right dosage, after 2 years of test, was for me 25 mg. Every upper dosage lead me to a sedative-antipsycotich effect (I call it neuroleptyc effect).
Unfortunely the stimulating effect fade after 2 days of continuos absumption.
So i found out the way of use it day on-day off.
The result is not perfect (the day "out" i feel axious and a little sad) but it is the only way of working i have ever tested.
If you need more info, please ask, i'll be glad to answer (in my bad English).
Neo.

Sounds like you are taking it in the same way I take 10mg of Zyprexa now and again, although I'm not sure what the equivalent dose of amilsupride is.

My psychiatrist wants me to take zyprexa 10mg daily but I'm still resisting.
