hi,
I have been on remeron 30mg for 3 days now and feel like I have done a wake and bake every morning. (wake up and smoke ALOT of pot) is this normal? I have actually wigged out a cpl times.
My head is cloudy, just today (3rd day) I started to feel like more myself around 4ish, the first two days I couldnt get off the couch. (I also have a cold, would that affect it?) anyways, just wondering if anyone else has felt this way, and wondering if this will pass? Also I cant get enough to eat, have a headache, legs ache, and lastnight I swear someone was doing a light show in my room.

So your real question is "is anyone taking Remeron and pot?".

No, I dont smoke pot, but when I did I felt exactly the way I do taking remeron 30mg. Just wondering if anyone else has the same symptoms, and is it normal to feel really tired and have no energy on this pill? I have been wondering too, is it ok to just take half the pill? would that make a difference in my energy?

I just stopped taking Remeron after being on it for about 6 months. My highest dose was 45mg. At that level, my mood was good. However, waking up each day was pretty much as you described. I was virtually catatonic for about 1 1/2 hours, just drinking coffee and smoking cigarettes. Of course, I would eat 2 bowls of cerial while waiting for the coffee to drip through. Basically, at 45mg the drug magnified my vices, which, unfortunately, are many. I had some blood work done after being at that dose for about 2 months. My blood sugar was elevated, my liver enzymes were high, and my cholesterol was up. I also gained 15 pounds. My doctor and I agreed that the disadvantages outweighed the benefits.
I went down to 15mg (yes, I cut the 30mg pill) and started acting more like myself, again. My appetite diminished, I reduced my smoking and drinking and have lost 10 of the 15 pounds I gained. It was also easier to wake up in the morning, but still somewhat difficult. I took 150 mg of trazadone for many years and it was much easier waking up on that than the Remeron, even at 15 mg.
The plus side of the drug was sex. Being 58 years old and having taken 80mg of Parnate for many years along with blood pressure and cholesterol medicine, Viagra had become a necessary companion. No more. On Remeron, I was having sex about 6 days a week with no Viagra. Unfortunately, there was a downside to that, too. I found it hard to concentrate on anything else. It was like being 17 again. I am between antidepressants right now and I'm not sure what my step will be, but I would sure like to keep a decent capacity for sexual function.
I'm sorry I rambled on so, but since this is fresh in my mind, I thought it might be helpful.

I take Remeron. I take it at night. 15 mg. It does make me sleepy, but I feel ok in the morning IF I get 8-9 hours sleep. If I get only 7 hours or less, I feel sleepy the next day. I have a deadline-oriented job where I have to focus and concentrate a lot, and I can do it fine with Remeron at night, as long as I get enough sleep.
As I recall, it took me several weeks to stop feeling sleepy throughout the day. I was so depressed when I starting taking it, I really don't remember much else, but I think I was drowsy.
The hungriness never seems to go away. I have to keep telling myself "you're not still hungry, that's the remeron talking."
But I'm looking forward to the sex part the previous poster mentioned! I haven't had a chance yet to "test drive" things.
One thing I do know for sure, the times I have been off of it and gone back on it when an episdoe of depression came back, the Remeron seemed to kick me out of that depression quite quickly.
I have this love/hate thing with it, because of how it can kick me out of a depression vs. the terrible munchies.

>Hi...Saturn here.
May I ask if 15 mg is the dose that worked well for your depression...and without significant daytime sleepiness? Thanks for any input.

Yes, 15 mgs. However, I am a woman, short, and don't weigh too much. So your dose may need to be higher.
This is the end of the thread.
