Hi!
Does anyone have expereince with Lamictal causing rapid cycling or being overstimulating? If so at what dose did this start to happen? How did you cope? Did it go away? And I am trying to figure out if indeed Lamictal is causing me to rapid cycle, sending me into hypo, maybe mild mania then crash. Is there any way to figure this out? If I keep increasing my dose I fear being too overstimulated and going up, up and away. I read somewhere can't remember where that it may get better once I hit 100-150..but I feel like each increase then each cycle I have been getting higher and anxiety has increased with each dose as well. I am only at 75 now. Can anyone relate, offer advice? I am extremly troubled by this and sick of it. This crap has been going on too long.
Does Dr. Bob ever answer posts by the way?...Lol likely not... could use some answers if your out there Bob...I am suffering.G

How long have you been taking this med? I am guessing at least 8 weeks. How did you feel before you were taking it? Perhaps you are going through an adjustment.
I only had mania when I combined Wellbutrin with Lamictal. Are you taking anything else with your Lamictal?
Have you tried splitting your dose into two times a day? That works better for me. I take 100 mg twice daily and I still don't feel quite there yet, but taking more doesn't help either.

To me it acts like an antidepressant and induces hypomanic symptoms. I have felt overactivated, anxious, and some insomnia for which I was told to take Benadryl. I am tapering down at the moment. I was disappointed because I thought it would get better with each successive increase. I knew early on, way before I hit 200mg, that I was not mellowing out at all. This is the mood stabilizer that works from below, the only one I believe. I am shocked to believe so many bipolar people respond well to this drug because it did not calm me down to any extent.

I have tried all of the mood stabalizers. Lamictal was the only one that caused me to go manic and I am nnot BP. I quite at 75mg. There are many posts in archives of this board on the topic. do a search. It is a wonder drug for many. After 2 weeks I ingcresed to 50mg and could barely take it. when I wnt to 75mg I could not function the naxietyy was so great. Keep in touch with your doc. I know many who have taken it and dont feel anything until they hit 159mg and got 400-600mg day.
good luck
