Need second opinion on her post, sounds like she is having a really hard time and her medications don't make any sense to me.
Any experts on Bipolar meds, please give her some advice. I think she may have Serotonin Syndrome, i.e. muscle spasms, mood lability, etc.
Thanks.

Couldn't say whether it's serotonin syndrome because there aren't enough facts, though I would doubt it.
Transient leg pain itself doesn't do it. Mood lability is customary in BP, so that doesn't mean serotonin syndrome's involved.
On a side note, her meds are not what I would expect for BP.
First, there's no Depakote, Lithium, or Lamictal--first line meds for BP.
Second, if the BP is dominated by depressive disorder, Effexor XR may be prescribed for that aspect, though it would do nothing for any manic phases (which she doesn't describe).
Third, she mentions being on Effexor XR for 3 weeks, and that last week her doctor upped it to 75 mg/day instead of 37.5 mg, but my understanding is that the standard starting dose is 75 mg/day (that's where I was started when I took it). Some doctors will start at 37.5 if they want to take it slow, but it sounds like BPMama was started even lower than that, which is unusual in my experience.
Frankly, I don't know what to make of it. The med regimen seems more like something for depression with adjunct anxiety component than bipolar.

Doesn't look like anyone responded that I can tell. My concern was that from what I read she was not on the right medication (NO MOOD STABALIZER) and she could have Serotonin Syndrome. What do you think.? From what I read about SS I thought this could be a possibility.
