I wish

Posted by willyee on May 15, 2006, at 23:38:12

I wish i had more positive stuff to post about,i hate to contribute to negative postings......but emsam has arrived and it seems the results overall are less than inpressive, that was my ace in the hole, ive been on every other ssri, mood stablizer, stimulant etc......

Now i see a new doc, where do we possably go from here,my hope is the size of a cookie crumb,is there no dramtic options, like a heavy opoid, can i just be allowed to suffer?

Only if we can suffer together. Walleye fishing would be fun about now, huh?

How long have you been taking emsam?

Theres always other options, new research, things that can help. You can only go up from here.

Have you tried nardil or parnate?

You aint lying, its a total shock that i have to resort to the net to find people in my same boat.No offense to anyone but i would love to meet someone local who went through the same ordeal.

Ive checked out a group or two in my time but it was not what i was looking for,i was the youngest person there, and when i say that i mean by at least half my age.

I halted dating cause i know either i need to improve,OR find someone as messed as me,there is no way i can expect a female to understand/excpet the way i am,ive had tons swear they could at the start, and they hate me now cause they took things personal.

Also to the other respones in the thread,i am on parnate, thats the problem,i was expecting emsam to be an option since parnate is doing nodda for me now, overall i dont believe i want to go on emsam even if i had the chance, which i dont at the moment, and nardil doesent work for me,hence my dilema, where to go from here?

I survie now on a hybrid of substances, xyrem being one of them, but im on a thin thread,i snapped hard at a i guess ex friend yesterday,i dont feel bad i confronted him as i feel he was wrong, but thinking now on how i did i sounded like a mad man,and felt like it too.

ECT? I don't know willyee. That parnate was working so well what went wrong? What a dumb question as I can't fix myself There has to be something. Oh you're from NY grasping ast straws could you have chronic lymes disease? It affects your neurological system. A blood test with confirm it. That is if you can find a doc to do it. I have a newsletter I get I will sent you one of the updates. Love Phillipa

I'm sure I've missed something, but why are you not willing to give Emsam a shot?

Ive pretty much ruled it out for a few reasons, first im on parnate now which is supposed to be the strongest med/maoi out there and its not working.

Second to get on parnate took extreme effort to find a doc to do this, she is now gone and im lucky to have even convinced this new doc who i havent seen yet over the phone that i need her to be willing to keep me on parnate/klonopin my standerd meds now to continue them as i cant go through any form of washout now i wont make it,aside from not wanting no REFUSING to take ssris again.

Last ive followed the emsam threads really close and the conclusion ive come to is overall its not anymore effective than parnate.

Then again,it simply being a different med period could be a option in itself,so although im not seeking it,i would not be totaly objective to the idea if a doc thought it were a good recomendation.....i just dont see this current doc or any around here suggesting it to me,my current date is may 26,i just callled to try to get in earlier and its a no go,so im sitting on my rear until that date simply to get at the least my klonopin filled.

Phillpa,i have not read into lyme disease,im gonna read on it now,i wish the high heavens a doc could find something wrong with me,so at least it could be treated!

thanks for the responses

I'm glad you are at least open to it. I love my Emsam. I totally am with you on SSRI's. This is the first time in years and years that I haven't felt foggy and can actually recall things more readily...kind of like before those SSRI's hit.

I'm sorry you are in such bad spot right now. If it wasn't for Larry, Curly and Moe (my 3 boys) I'm not sure where I'd be at today. Good luck to you. Good docs are hard to find too.

I know exactly what you mean. I wish a doctor could find something wrong with me like hypothyroidism or another hormone imbalance. I'm even going to see an endocronologist, but I think most of us know that the problem is probably with the neurotransmitters in our brains. I feel for all of you out there.
