Hi everyone,
I am a newbie from the UK. I have been on ADs for 11 years. I have been on Effexor XR for 6 years now. Although effexor has been helpful overall I have decided that I can't put up with the sexual side effects anymore. My psych suggested Mirtazapine/Remeron/Zispin as an alternative with fewer sexual side effects. Therefore, I am currently weaning myself off effexor 75mg. (today is first day on 37.5mg). I started mirtazapine 15 mg 5 days ago. Having suffered hideous withdrawals about a year ago when reducing the effexor from 150mg to 75mg, I am worried about the withdrawals I am going to suffer now. Since I am only a few hours into day 1 of effexor withdrawal, so far so good.
It would be great to hear from people who have made the Effexor to mirtazapine switch and also if anyone has experience of cross-tapering the drugs and whether this reduces the awful suffering of Effexor withdrawal.
