Can someone tell me if there are any counterindications for taking paxil and ritalin together? I started taking paxil about a month ago. It's helping with anxiety, but it makes me sleepy. I'm sleepy from the time I wake up to the time I go to bed. So I've tried to offset the sleepiness by taking ritalin. I had stopped taking ritalin because it was too agitating, but I notice that together paxil and ritalin work well for me.
I take lorazepam sometimes, as well.
I'd appreciate your feedback. Thanks.

If you have a greatly improved quality of life, then that sounds great. Ssri + stimulant combo is pretty common. I think if you are planning longterm you want to use as little ritalin as possible to avoid or slow down the tolerance buildup and avoid needing higher doses. On lazy days when you don't mind being a little tired, you could take a half dose ritalin or even skip a day.

Blueberry, that sounds like good advice. I do feel benefits from this combo. I just wanted to be sure the meds were compatible with one another. I find that I'm much more talkative. I've always been pretty introverted. Now I just want to talk all day. I like it. I'm more open. I think that's the ritalin making me more extroverted and the paxil making me less anxious. There are definitely days I could lay off the ritalin. I don't want to build up a tolerance. My general attitude is the less meds the better, but sometimes, I need to cave in and take some.
