celexa and omega 3

Hi again,

Does celexa have any effect on blood clotting? Is it safe to take with omega 3?

Thanks.

I've read before that SSRIs can increase bleeding or something like that. But I would be really surprised if it were to a degree that you couldn't take omega-3 supplements with it. You might ask a pharmacist.

Yep I agree no problem. If there was, it would say so in the insert. And anyway, don't forget that omega 3 is found naturally in oily fish, and your doc didn't say "don't eat fish" did s/he.

Thank you all (nm)

I know what you are saying. I had the same concern when I was taking celexa + O3. The combination worked well. Both can interfere with blood clotting so it is possible that the blood can get too thin.

I had a lot of nosebleeds on the combination, but it could have been coincidence.
