Occasionally time to time I get slight pains aches in my chest and some arms, not terrible, but usually after taking the ritalin, is this serious or normal. I am 28 taking 20mgIM x 3 for 3 months now.

Hi Ryan,
Sorry to hear about this problem. You may likely be experiencing angina which means your heart is not receiving enough oxygen. This happened to me with Ritalin so I had to stop taking it. Of course it could be something else, but either way I'd definitely let your doc know.
Good Luck,
Mike

This is really scary. I was experiencing virtually the same symptoms on Ritalin and went to the doctor about 3 or 4 times to get checked. They consistently said it was anxiety due to stress. Now I am not so sure. It sounds like I too could have had angina. I am done with stimulants. These drugs are obviously dangerous and I am very worried about the long-term health effects of prolonged use of these medications. Recently, someone I had known for a long time, someone who seemed very fit/healthy, died suddenly in their 20s from a heart failure after 15 years on and off of Ritalin. While it was unlikely that Ritalin was the main cause of their death, I am sure 15 years of cocaine, er, Ritalin use from age 10 didn't help the structural problem in their heart. I think we should all be careful with these drugs.

Well, upon further reading, maybe I did or maybe I did not have angina. I let my point stand though: these stimulants can cause sudden, unexpected health problems and even death if misused or if taken for prolonged periods of time, particularly if you are predisposed to suffer heart problems (of which you are possibly totally unaware of).
