Ambien

Posted by MidnightBlue on March 14, 2006, at 19:53:23

My insurance just denied a refill even though it was well within their guidelines a couple of days ago! And still is according to their web site! My Rxs always last longer than they should, I never take too much of a drug.

It seems there is a new report out of people getting in car crashes and driving "drunk" on Ambien. SO the pharmacy here said all the doctors are pulling people off of it and my insurance will now only pay for 60 days of meds in a 90 day time frame!

Has anyone else run into this problem?

According to the news people were drinking with it and in the morning having blackouts with it. Can you switch to lunesta. Yes it really is in the news. I find it hard to belive as when I took ambien I also took xanax, chloral hdrate and always woke up early and had to repeat the dose of chloral hydrate. I am only taking valium now. Fondly, Phillipa

I read that report, too. But it's no reason for your insurance to change it's coverage. whether it's safe or not is up to a doctor to decide. Or the FDA. I'd appeal.

GG,

Thanks for commenting. I really feel bad about this. I haven't done anything wrong or taken the drug incorrectly. It doesn't even show the new "limits" on the insurance site. At least it didn't last night!

Maybe next week I'll be up to calling the insurance and putting up a fight. I'm too tired this week from trying to sleep without it.

I totally understand how lack of sleep makes is to hard to do anything. I hope you find some relief soon.

I couldn't take ambien last night because I was up too late. I didn't sleep well, but I did take a bath with lavender and other aromatherapy stuff in the bath salts. And I had a big mug of chammomile tea. It helped relax me a bit, which was good because I was fairly agitated. Hence the being up late. What an awful vicious circle.

But maybe something like that might help smooth things out a tiny bit between doses? I use Celestial seasoning teas (Tension Tamer and Sleepytime). They help, but I find I need to have a "double-dose" versus a single cup for the most effect.

Take care and sweet dreams. I hope you are able to work things out with the insurnance company.

GG,

Thanks once again. Not up to a "fight" this week, so I'll try the insurance company next week. I'm allergic to ragweed and crysanthemums and I think that is related to chammomile. I could be wrong on that. Lavendar doesn't help much.

I think pain as well as my mind are doing me in!
