combining anti anxiety meds and adhd meds

does it not seem to be contraindicated to combine Xanax and Adderal for a person with co-morbid borderline personality disorder, bi-polar, adhd, anxiety disorder, OCD and ODD? Does not Adderal and Xanax increase the levels of dopamine which if I understand correctly a very bad thing for a borderline personality disorder person? Also substance abuse has been an issue as well and has included cocaine and marijuana.

thats a tough one...even w/ a personality disorder and previous drug abuse, using controlled substances might be the best way to treat problems..the question isn't so much whats being prescribed as it is how well the doc is managing the case (watching for drug-induced problems, early refills, that kind of thing). A lot of docs won't mix these meds for ANYONE, but some will do so even with problem patients b/c they think it is the best thing to do.

I take my Adderall with some Xanax, and I have a history of substance abuse. If you've exhausted your options as I have, and these are the only two meds you're having any success with..then yeah, I think it's warranted. I may be Bipolar I, I know I have ADD, anxiety disorders and OCD. Adderall releases Dopamine and inhibits its reuptake. Xanax has a positive effect on GABAergic neurotransmission, and at some level causes an increase in Dopamine. I don't know much about borderline personality disorder. I do know that with schizophrenics, there's too much dopaminergic activity. Dopamine is very much responsible for the high experienced by people who use coke, opiates, even alcohol to some degree.
