hello,
I'm trying to figure out if tegretol (carbazemepine) effects the thyroid in a similar manner as lithium

hi! I don't think Tegretol does much to the thyroid, but I could be wrong..there are other risks associated with it, so labs are needed every couple months. If you have insurance, you might want to opt for Trileptal, which is similar but cleaner, and doesn't require labs (although you might want to check your blood sodium levels periodically).
