I had a good response to Nardil, it helped with depression etc.,but not near as well as Parnate has for me. The problem I had with Nardil was it gave me some pretty bad side-effects,i.e., severe insomnia, inorgasmia, really bad night jerks (my whole body would jerk really bad), headaches, freaky dreams-it just wasn't the drug for me. However if I ever need too, i'll try it again. We tried Parnate after nardil this was nine yrs ago and it worked well for 2 1/2 mos.but, i already told you about that. This time it's going to work...hopefully for the rest of my life..but, as we both know, there are no guarentees with this stinking illness. Take care Tep.

Hi,
I took Nardil first and it worked great for my depression. It just caused me to gain weight and made me wake up in the middle of the night and unable to get back to sleep. It didn't matter when during the day I took the Nardil or what sleep medicine I took in conjuction with it. I could have dealt with the weight gain, but not the sleep.
Parnate worked great for me as well, without the weight issues. Then I began having spontaneous blood pressure spikes which I know many people deal with but I wasn't comfortable with.

Nardil was my first success (25 years ago.) Then I fell asleep at the wheel of my van, rolled off any embankment and totaled the vehicle. So I moved on to Marplan which was and probably will be my all time favorite because it floats the middle ground. Not too sleepy with weight gain like Nardil and not too energizing with weightloss like Parnate. It was just right for me with little to no side effects. Then I found out I am mildly bipolar so my beloved Marplan was swept away (can cause mania) and replaced with Parnate which is supposed to not induce mania (yeah? Why the hell am I up at 5:00 and haven't slept yet?)what I am on now. It's working like gangbusters, just another one of your typical MAOI doing its job :-)

Taking you off of Marplan because you were BP makes no sense whatsoever. Whatever happened to adding a mood stabilizer? If your BP is "mild" enough that it was "just discovered", perhaps you could do with only Mirapex or something like that. But why drop Marplan?
