Where Can I Get Assistance With Getting Cymbalta C

Posted by Phillipa on December 27, 2005, at 16:10:17

Okay I got my first month's prescription of cymbalta. $269.00 for a month. I only get $795.00 from Medicaire a month. Between paying pdoc, synthroid, valium. What the heck do I live on? My husband has a drug card but it is not good. Doesn't save a thing and he is not working. Where can I get assistance for paying for this med? I mean I want to work but can't and now this is creating more anxiety. I will be on the streets before long with meds that cost this much. And I could work as an RN and get good benefits and money if I were not so depressed anxious and could concentrate. I called the pdocs office and the receptionist gave me an extension. But the voice say if you need a pharmacy form it was wrong. Help! Fondly, Phillipa

http://www.needymeds.com

They have information about how to get meds when you can't afford them. Whoever makes Cymbalta will have some sort of compassion program, so that you can get the meds.

Now, your doctor will have to fill out part of the paperwork, and the drugs will be sent to your doctor, not to you. But at least you get them.

My experience was that it took about six weeks to get the paperwork through and the meds to me. Keep that in mind, and start the paperwork EARLY for all your refills.

Good luck.

I know it's been mentioned before on cymbalta threads, but some people do really well with miniscule doses. Some people do poorly at regular doses. That in mind, it might be worth trying lower doses to begin with and see. I'm not sure, but I think it's something like 10 beads equals 1mg or something close to that.

I remember one person saying that 10mg a day cymbalta was great, but that 30mg was lousy.

Worth a shot maybe. Would sure save you a ton of money. One capsule could last you a week!

Some people seem to handle it just fine and take high doses. But I found cymbalta to be amazingly powerful stuff. It is on my radar screen, because I've tried it at just 2mg and liked it there.

I'm a little weird because I do not believe in high doses because for me anyway high doses usually overshoot the magic window. I am not a believer in more is better. Anyway, try just a little bit and see. You have nothing to lose.

That's good advice from Blueberry. that way, a one month supply could last you about 3-4 months.

I hope you find answers and get help my friend. I emailed you back just now.

Thanks guys. Spriggy I got your E-mail. And Racer I called the pdocs office today and they are sending the paperwork. Do they hold it against you if you have money in a money market for your retirement years, and a house, two cars. But no income coming in except the Medicare. Thansk Fondly, Phillipa. ps Blueberry I will take your advise and a lot of the others who either E-mailed me or Babbled me.

Here is another link to an organization helping to get patients financial assistance with their drugs:

Have you not had success with other drugs such as Prozac??? It seems to have been the consensus of those who reported trying Cymbalta that it was no Magic Bullet. If you haven't had a bad experience with Prozac, perhaps you should try that first cuz it's now available in generic formulastions.

Hawkeye I thought Medicare did not provide coverage for psychiatric medications? And when prozac first came out I tried it and the anxiety over a three day period at 20mg sent me into panic attacks that took three days of xanax to stop and at the time I wasn't really depressed. And I ask you how can a pdoc decide what to prescribe in a 30minute period of time. The first time he sees you. And he also wants psych testing. Tried the first site and it kept saying the income was incorrect. I am on Medicaire for disability and my husband isn't working. But our income tax will show more as we sold property to get a house. But we are living on the profits now. Fondly, Phillipa ps if you have medicaire you can't get medicaid. Is this correct?

I think u should try. I don't think that the money you got from the sale of your house would be considered to be income for purposes of qualifiacation. It is a capital gain which is different from regular "income.".The money from the sale of your house would be counted against you only if there is also an assets test in addition to an income test.
