Well folks, after an unsucessful trial of Prozac that made me absolutely miserable, the pdoc and I decided to put me back on Parnate. The reason I had to quit it in the first place is that it gave me an awful case of hives that made me alleric to almost everything and is still present even after stopping Parnate 4 months ago. We decided to not go above 30 mg per day and to use doxepin as an antihistamine to keep the rash from getting any worse. In case the 30mg is not enough does anyone have any suggestions for aumentation meds for someone with mixed anxiety/depression?

I've augmented my Parnate dose (50mg) with Klonopin, with great success. (although, I would caution anyone against starting a benzo-- it has worked wonderfully)
I have used the supplements DMAE, and B complex vitamins (essential when taking a MAOI), and the hormones DHEA, and Melatonin (at night for sleep)

Thanks for the reply. I’ve got a pid prescription for Librium, but I only use it occasionally. I found that if I use the longer lasting benzos chronically I get bad bruxism and anorgasmia although I don’t have a problem with taking 15mg of oxazapam at night because of the short half life. As far as supplements go I am taking 3 grams of fish oil and 500mg vitamin C and a multivitamin. I think I will have to switch from the multivitamin to one of these old peoples ones containing zinc and selenium because my hair started falling out last time. I guess it’s an androgenic effect because I started growing more body hair too. At this rate I’ll probably start to look like Burt Remolds without the rug. I was mostly wondering if anybody had any positive experiences with adding other antidepressants to Parnate.
This is the end of the thread.
