I took lamictal which didnt work for me, but when I took that my pdoc said tell him immediately about any rash. He never said anything about watching out for it with depakote but im definitly developing itchy rashes. IS this serious? I see the pdoc tomorow so i'll let him know but I was just curious until then.
Thanks

I started depakoteER 500mg a couple months ago. My doc never mentioned anything about a rash, but I did read it as a possible precaution. After a couple days I did notice that my back was itching. Not a rash, but just somewhat itchy. It went away in a day or two. Also noticed moon shaped redness on top of my cheeks under the bags of the eyes in the morning. That too went away. Definitely something to tell the doc though. I think these rash things can pop up any time, even months into treatment, so I'm always keeping an eye out. My doc wants me higher than 500mg, but I refuse.

A rash usually means some sort of allergic reaction. It can happen anytime even if you've taken a med for years you can have an allergic reaction to it. Fondly, Phillipa
