I will soon be moving back to Canada from the UK. I have been taking 500mg Lamotrigine daily and would like to know if it is prescribed in Canada for depression and if anybody had an idea how much it costs?

Yes, it is prescribed for depression. It is available as a generic, and would cost in and around $1/100 mg, based on a quick search of Canadian internet pharmacies. I don't know if prices might not be better at real bricks and mortar establishments.Lar

Hi Larry- I'm surprised that a drug would cost a fixed amount per dose. For example, my experience has been that if a 100 mg tablet of a drug costs let's say $20 for 30 pills, then the 200 mg version might cost $25.
But that's just my experience based on a limited number of drugs that I have taken.

>Seemed to be very close to that cost ratio, regardless of dose.
I agree, it is unusual to find that, sensible though it may be.
