Nardil + Xanax + One more choice........

Posted by ace on November 2, 2005, at 2:03:19

Well my friends, I am still a portly looking young man...and my beauty needs to be shown!!!!

I have a very good feeling Nardil is responsible in at least a peripheral way of causing the weight gain....but Seroquel doesn't help -- DEFINITE weight gainer....one hour after dose appetite increases with great alacrity....

I'm thinking....

Changing my Antipsychotic too

1. Thioridazine (NO! This old AP does NOT have a higher rate of EPS than newer ones...nor cataracts, nor cardiac interference. It's actually sfaer at a low dose than a high dose of risperidone! I'm thinking 100-200mg nocte)

2. Risperidone (.5-1mg mane)

3. Abilify- )10-20mg mane)

Advice is welcome my lovely brothers and sisters! Never pack it in...KEEP GOING!!!!!

Hi there ace

I'm wondering whether a change in any of your meds is such a good idea, at least for the time being. You recently told us how well you were doing on your current combo so wouldn't it be best to try some other stategies to loose some weight? Excercise, dieting maybe? What about Atkins diet? Just a thought.

Could you also explain why you need an antipsychotic? Is it for augmentation or for a particular diagnosis? And why Thioridazine? I ask because I was put on Thioridazine (Melliril) once and hated it. I started on 25mg 3xday but went as low as 10mg 3xday and still felt apathy, numb, depressed. I was given it for help with amphetamine abstinence - the doc must have been off his head! I've never heard of its use as a mood enhancer at any dose.

Still, I'm far from an expert on APs.

Regards
teck
