How many hours between Klonopine doses

Posted by tjeffries on October 27, 2005, at 6:33:04

How long do you all wait for those who take Klonopin before taking another dose???? I take .75 mg. and I don't remember how long in between doses...is it twelve hours? that seems too long?

i somtimes take doses as close together as 4hrs or so, but in the hospital, where they were administering it very carefully, they gave it to me once every eight hours. i hope that helps.

I dosed every 6-8 hours when I had to dose consistently. When my anxiety was "worse than worse", I found a single dose did not last me longer than about 8 hours even with the mega halflife of the med.

I dose it 6 hours apart- .5 mg, twice a day.

The idea is to get to work without being severely anxious, and to get home without a panic attack.

My pdoc told me to take it in the morning and the second dose about 6 hours later.

The first (.5) dose lessens the anxiety quite a bit. However, the afternoon dose turns me into a drugged -feeling apathetic slug. I dread taking it.

Marsha, what is your doctor`s rationale for having you take 2 doses 6 hours apart? To me it would make more sense to take it every 12 hours. It might lessen your morning anxiety if you`d only gone 12 hours instead of 18 without a dose. Part of that anxiety may be withdrawal. Cecilia

I'm not entirely sure. I guess because I have most of my anxiety in the early part of the day and it goes away at night. I have tried taking the second dose of Klonopin at bedtime and I woke up just as scared as ever. It didn't seem to make any difference.

It's weird. I've discovered recently that if I even take a nap in the afternoon (go to sleep not scared at all) I will still wake up scared. Something that happens while I'm asleep is making me scared.

Go figure...

Marsha, I do the same thing-wake up scared though for me it`s more a combination of fear and depression-an overwhelming feeling of just not wanting to wake up. I think dreams have a lot to do with it-I have bizarre, anxiety filled dreams. You`d think I`d be glad to wake up and stop dreaming but it`s the opposite-the dreams fill me with so much fear that I want to go back to sleep to escape the fear even though I know I`ll just dream more. And 90% of the time the dream vanishes shortly after waking, so I can`t even "analyse" it. Only the feelings are left. Cecilia
