Here we go again

Posted by Sonya on September 8, 2005, at 15:25:13

I really feel awful. Depression has me in its grip again. So back on the medication merry-go-round. I restarted Depakote (500mg) a week ago to control menopausal hot flashes (it works) and I had hoped my mood would improve with the hot flashes under control. No such luck. I was afraid of trying another antidepressant that would put MORE weight on, so I suggested Wellbutrin to my pdoc today and he wrote me a script. I'll start 75mg tomorrow of the generic. I asked about Wellbutrin SR vs XL and he said he wasn't rxing either; just the generic. I'm confused -- what is the generic equivalent to -- immediate release?

Oh sonya I,m so sorry and I once took wellbutrin. Don't know the form as it was also generic. But it wasn't combined with another med so it made me appear hypomanic. wouldn't mind trying it now so I'm interested in what others will day. Love ya Phillipa

Philippa,
I read your post about not being able to get up after taking the nortriptaline. Are you still taking it? It's so frustrating, isn't it? I've never tried Wellbutrin, but had a bad run with the SSRI's so thought I'd give this a try. Hopefully the anxiety won't be too bad since I'll also be taking Depakote. Right now life sucks. It makes me so sad about the Gulf Coast disaster, and I'm royally p****d off at our government.
Love,
Sonya

I agree. Will send you an E-mail when I get home from Charlotte. This laptop is a pain. But I agree with you about the meds. And no I stopped it but since Ed is back he's suggested I cut it down to 5mg. And you know how much I respect his opinion and knowledge. And another thing I'm not watching any more news on the hurricaine as it creates more stress for me. Fondly, Phillipa
