I am a mother of one and a recent Effexor user but I have really been thinking about having another baby. Effexor has so many horrible side effects on newborn and I wouldn't want to do that to my baby. After you stop taking meds how can I cope with everything. Effexor doesn't seem like a right fit for me but I do know I have depression and need help with it.
Any ideas?

If you are serious about getting pregnant, I would do my best to get off all the meds. I just think it's too risky and there are some reports/studies that babies go through withdrawals after birth when their mother's have been on SSRI's.BUT, if your depression is life altering, maybe try to get as stable as possible for a while before having another baby.

i've been wanting to get pregnant too-also want to try off all meds. right now my pdoc says getting off meds during winter season is the worst idea so he wants me to wait till spring..long story short he said he'd have 'emergency meds' available. prozac(AD) is the only one he said he would trust...it's been tested and shows no effects on baby.
