After a few months of being on Aricept to augment my Desoxyn dose, here's my experiences:
--I went from 50mg of Desoxyn to 5mg/day. No joke.
--I feel more content, and less anxious (not just from the abscence of Desoxyn-- I know what no Desoxyn is like) yet still productive.
--I feel... more... "poetic"... I think (?) Placebo, perhaps, but, um, well, it definitely hasn't hurt my cognitive capacities. My papers lately... have really been the kind my professors share among one another.
Side effects: Agitation, at first, until I lowered the Desoxyn to eventually 5mg. GI side effects require me to take an antacid, Prilosec or Zantac 150 will do for me.

Hi John,
Your pdoc certainly isn't afraid to experiment with some unusual drug combinations!

Also, help people, don't hurt them. We're all on this spinning ball together. We're not enemies. Name-call all you wish, and my concern is only heightened for your well-being.
I wish you the best.

Hi,
Back when I was on Zoloft my doc added Aricept to help counter the memory/brain fog side-effects I was having. I think it did work to some degree.> After a few months of being on Aricept to augment my Desoxyn dose, here's my experiences:

My brain felt clearer on Aricept and I was more productive. It seemed to undo med and depression induced cognitive issues. It was nice. It also had some antidepressant effects. My GP pulled the plug due to elevated liver enzymes.

Does anyone here have opinions about galantamine?
What did someone (Ed?) post about it? Something negative, I forget.

> What was your doc's reasoning for putting you on Aricept? Do you take any kinds of anticholinergic meds like antihistimintes? These can impair memory in suseptible people. These are the first things that are looked at by Neurologists when evaluating an older person for Alzheimer's Disease or for an unexplained dementia. GI upset is common with these types of meds: Aricept, Exelon, Galantamine.
