I'd been med-free for a few years, but started taking my leftover Effexor 2 1/2 weeks ago after being depressed for a couple of months. Now my supply is dwindling (meant to take a lower dose than I'm at now, but only started feeling better at 112.5 mg) and I want to start weaning myself off it and try natural remedies.

I'm wondering if the withdrawal will be as bad as it was last time for me, since I've only been taking it a short amount of time. Also wondering if starting 5-HTP now would help the symptoms or be a bad combination.

I also take 25 mg. of Elavil for migraines.

Thanks for any advice -- trying to avoid going back to a psychiatrist, since I really would prefer to be med-free again!
