I would like to dissapear

Posted by scribble'ntweak on June 8, 2005, at 12:35:49

For the last 2 weeks I have been on top of the world. I have been taking abilify, klonopin, and celexa. for 3 days I didn't feel like I needed the klonopin, so I stopperd taking it. Note that I am on a very low dose (.5mg) All of a suden I began to cry every day, I feel like my previously good friends are conspiring against me, I feel like a big lump, and I want to off- myself. I have an appointment today at 5:00 to see my psychiatrist. I don't know if this rapid decline has to do with some kind of cycle which I never recognized before, or if it was going off the klonopin. I am not bipolor, (that I know of) and take the abilify for paranoid delusions associated with schizophrenia. Please I need support.

Dear Scribble,

Klonopin causes withdrawal symptoms, you can't just stop taking it - you need to reduce the dose very gradually. Please restart the Klonopin as soon as possible, you will quickly feel better. The Klonopin will help your anxiety.

Kind regards,
Ed.

Yes, I was being treated in an intensive CBT program, and they tried to pull me off Klonopin too quickly. I had perhaps the worst anxious episode I've ever suffered, and ended up in the hospital for 5 1/2 weeks - work out a withdrawal plan with an doctor experienced with that class of drugs - if you really want to come off it

I think you need to take some klonopin. Sudden withdrawal like that can cause some very severe symptoms. Don't think that .5 mg to zero is trivial. It is not trivial. Take some klonopin, and reconsider your plan to discontinue it, by talking with your doctor and planning it properly.

I concur with the previous posts as I am someone who only takes .5 mg of klonopin. If I skip it I eventually am NOT a happy camper (restless, irritable, agitated) Take care.

I get that feeling of wanting to dissapear also. I can totally relate. I take klonopin too and its been a life saver for me as far as anxiety. I can actually go out and meet new ppl with my husband (like work friends) without freaking out. But, at first it did cause depression and I was going to stop taking it, but once i gave it some time, it worked out good for me. I take 3 mg a day, but thats becaue I was on xanax for many many years and have a high tolerance.
Good Luck
