I am currently taking Lithium 900 mgs. Recenly I started experiencing really bad side effects so my doctor took me off. He put me on Trilepital and it made me SO depressed. Has anyone had any sucess with a medication for Bipolar II after having been on Lithium? I seem to have lots of Anger episodes. What is good for Anger?

I take depakote and it works really well for that. I've been on trileptal too and that helped, but it was nauseating. Was on thorazine a long time ago at a low dose and that also worked but it was depressing. Maybe try a low-dose of Seroquel if you don't mind taking AP's? Also, maybe it wasn't a good idea to stop lithium entirely. Perhaps a lower dose of lithium (i.e. 450mg) with a low dose of trileptal *or* depakote would work?

Thanks Rich,
I just called my doctor to see if I could take the Trilepital with the Lithium. That might be what I need. When he started me on the Trilepital he had me stop the Lithium cold, I lost it emotionally. Stopping Lithium all together was the problem I am sure of it. Thanks for the advise. I will keep you updated.

As you said in your last post, stopping the lithium all at once probably isn't helping.
The Trileptal is making you depressed but Tegretol, which is almost the same med as ( but people respond differently) is suppose to work well for rage.
I hope going back on the lithium at a low dose will help for now.
