Has anyone taken Tegretol? If so, did you like it, what was it like, anything else you could tell me... ?
I'm just thinking of things I could potentially add to my cocktail. All I'm taking right now is lithium (only 300mg because it makes me really shaky... so I don't think it's even doing much) and Seroquel (also a low dose).
I am not diagnosed as bipolar-- but I tend towards a rather agitated depression with a lot of violent thoughts towards myself and others, and just plain flipping out. No antidepressants have helped me, some have done nothing at all, some have made things worse.
I took Depakote about a year ago but that made me really shaky too and basically I didn't like it very much. I've also taken Trileptal and it didn't do anything... story of my life....
Any thoughts?

It has a lot of side effects and you have to get your levels tested. I would try Trileptal first ... tegretol's cousin. There are hardly any side effects and you don't have to get your levels checked and it's not contraindicated with any meds.
Another thing you should try is 300 mg of Niacin (Vitamin B3)divided into 3 100 mg dose. It's very calming. Make sure you take a B complex vitamin since they need each other to work well.
