questions about nardil

Posted by mamaj on May 23, 2005, at 19:56:30

Hi, all. I had a few questions. I just started taking nardil, and I am currently also on 200 mgs of lamictal, and I was feeling fine, but all of a sudden, I started feeling bad anxiety, and I went into a manic episode. Did anyone have these problems when first starting nardil, or could it be that it's time to increase my lamictal?? Thanks.

Hi,
I'm on 67.5 mg of Nardil and have been taking it for over a year. When I tried to go up to 75 mg Nardil, I got very agitated and restless. It was not tolerable to me at that level. So it might be Nardil. How much are you starting on?

Also, my pdoc just added Lamictal to try to help depression in the hopes of decreasing Nardil due to side effects. Good to know someone else is on this combo.

Hi there
Out of interest if you were to take say 15 or 30mgs a day less, would you notice it? I've never taken MAOI's and wonder whether its like say Valium, where most of the effect is swallowed up by the tolerance, or say Thorazine where you feel it whatever the dose. Just curious,TIA.

Hi,
I felt something like manic episode days 4-5 on Nardil, but no anxiety.

I've been on Nardil for two weeks and have not had a problem with anxiety or mania. I actually feel apathetic and depressed...maybe the fact that I'm on Depakote has something to do with it. I've been contemplating stopping the Depakote for months.

Good question. I would definitely notice much less urinary retention and peripheral edema. That always goes up with the dose. And I have tried to lower back down to 45 mg in the past, for the same reason, and my depression has come back.

So yes, I do think I would notice.
