I wish you continued success with this med. BTW, why did you switch from Parnate?

It's to early to say it is a success, just no serious side effects after transition.> BTW, why did you switch from Parnate?
1. I could not manage anxiety while on it
2. I was very tired in the evenings
3. I had mood swings
4. I could not go above 20-30 mg because of anxietyThanks a lot for your support

Hi Ixus!
>I was very tired in the evenings....
Is Nardil making you drowsy, or tired in the evening?
Kind regards,
Ed.

Hi Ed,
It makes me drowsy in the evenings. I am not drowsy during the day. I can drink caffeine without any problems now. I don't feel tired at all.

Hi Ixus
I'd be interested to know if/when your sleep becomes adversely affected.

I don't know. I need to wait a few days to see what will happen/let my body to adjust to a new med. My urine smells of phenelzine metabolits
:-). Certainly it's not a vitamine. Also side effects can show up within a moment.
If everythings goes fine and I don't see the full response I will certainly increase the dose. Btw how to take more than 45? Should I split 60 into two doses or four?

I sleep like a baby and wake up after 7-8 hours. My hypersomnia has finished when I started using Parnate. Until then I slept for 11-12 hours and was not refreshed. I have never suffered from insomnia except 4 days on MD episode (100 hours without sleep).

Hi Marsha,
yes, my appetite has increased. I eat more. But I also smoke, so I don't have problems with limiting my food intake :-)

Hi Ixus!
>My urine smells of phenelzine metabolits
:-)That's funny! What do phenelzine metabolites smell like???
>Should I split 60 into two doses or four?
I think the manufacturer recommends 15mg four times a day. I've know people to take 30mg twice daily though.
Kind regards,
Ed.PS. Do you smoke less since you've been on an MAOI?

Btw wellbutrin made my anxiety worse also (out of topic, may be helpful)

Hi Ixus!
>smoke....
Some people say that they smoke less on selegiline. I wondered if the traditional MAOIs had a similar effect.
Kind regards,
Ed.

Nicotine is anxiogenic as well. But now I can drink coffee and smoke without any limits.

the reason might be quite simple. In my case anxiety and depression is higly correlated (I believe anxiety comes with depression). When I am depressed smoking is not a pleasure.
Smoking may be helpful in panic attacks, not in constant anxiety I think.
