NARDIL and dreaded weight gain!

Posted by ace on April 27, 2005, at 23:44:02

Guys as you have realised, lately I have grown a brain, hence me going back to 60mg Nardil.

This is the prob.....WFor the two weeks I was down on 45/30mg there was significant weight loss. But also a semi-return of symptoms!!!

Anyhow, this has to be rectified. Ace's stunning good looks can't be defiled in such a way -- it is a travesty of justice!!!!

Guys got any suggestions...I got some Topomax in my pharmacy at home, but I wouldn't want to use it full time....

Thanks my friends!!!

Ace

Nardil- 60
Xanax-2-4mg
Seroquel- 150mg
Lamictal - 125mg (going off this slowly)

hehehe my physically weight challenged friend :-) (to remain politically correct)

My only suggestion is DIET.

I gained around 55 punds from nortriptyline and I guess also Lyrica.

Now I'm 209 pounds (95 kilogram)!! I am almost fat.... :(

I was eating a lot of sweets, drank 2 liters of Cola a day, ate lots of chocolate etc...... Now I only dring plain water (from the tap. its better than most mineral waters available. in my city. comes directly from a mountain spring via a pipe line), and eat a heap of veggies for lunch..

So far I didnt loose much weight, but I do look a lot slimer in the face and my belly got smaller. maybe my body converts the fat into muscles or so... anyway

well, good luck my aussie friend :)

I really think dieting is the only way...

bye

Hey ACE,

As a nardil veterian of 5 years, I never found a solution to the weight gain. I did find out why it caused me 30 lbs weight gain. First it inhibits the liver from producing sugar, so between meals my sugar dropped low and thus I needed to eat something with lots of sugar constantly to keep my sugar normal. Secondly, it causes some mild inflamation in the liver causing fluid retention in the legs and stomach. I tried everything to lose weight ... no luck. As the MAOI Godfather told me, Dr Fredrick Quitken, "Nardil works for 90% of people, but only 25% of people can tolerate it!"

I am having about 75% efficacy with zoloft, selegiline, klonopin and lithium.

Hope you find an answer ... please call me so I can go back to nardil!

Smith

Ace, Remember you're THE NARDIL CHAMP! You felt so bad and scared when you thought you would have to go off of it I think the wt issue is trivial unless you weigh over 250lbs, and are 5 feet tall. Fondly, Phillipa

Thanks heaps to all you guys!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (nm)
