Zoloft dosage

Posted by scatterbrained on April 11, 2005, at 20:18:56

I'm currently taking 200mg of zoloft and was just wondering if anybody has gone up higher than that. Should I try going up higher before giving up and trying something different?

Isn't that the maximum recommended dose? Does it work for you? I'm only taking 25mg and don't feel a thing. I know it's low but I'm not sure I need it. Fondly, Phillipa

Well that's great if you feel you don't need it, does that mean your depression is better? If so, and you don't feel a thing then there is no harm if you remain on it. I only say this because when I was on paxil three years ago, I was only on 10mg and my depression improved so i went off of it prematurely and since then my depression has been treatment resistent. Anyway, about 200mg being the max dose for zoloft, I think that's the max FDA dose but from what I understand Doctors frequently go up higher on it. It would be nice to hear about somebody's experience going up higher than 200.

I think my Son's pdoc said he could go up to 250mg, but he is on 200mg and feels it is working for him. The same thing happened to me l0mg paxil worked with xanax. I stopped it after about a year and a half. No AD has worked for me since. Maybe I just don't know what feeling good is like. I just know that I had terrible side effects on low doses of them and had to quit. Then when I decided to take Rx'd doses they did nothing. I mean I took 60mg of cymbalta and felt nothing! I don't know what the deal is. Fondly, Phillipa
