Gneric Xanax/alprazolam Question

Posted by etoc on March 25, 2005, at 11:33:52

I've taken pretty much all of the legal benzos available here in the U.S. and although they dont work for social phobia anymore--in the past when I was 20, they were literally miracle meds for my social phobia; I am now 27. (I Took klonopin for over a year and then stopped all meds for 3 years) and now restarting the benzos, they have lost the efficacy to get rid of my social phobia and even anxiety! But they DO make me groggy and confused. However, they DO get rid of my occasional true panic attacks--that I will give them!

I am RX'd 0.5mgs of Xanax 2-3 times a day--I take it totally PRN. Like maybe as few times a week. I have recently begun to take it at the same time,, on a regular schedule, rather than PRN, to see if it will build up in my system and have any effect.

I have ready a ton of posts that said Greenstone's alprazolam is the best and I decided to get it. It was available at rite-aid for the same cost as my other generic by Sandoz/Geneva. Well, basically, it doesnt seeem to work any better or any worse? I was hoping for some differnce. The Only weird difference I have noted with Greenstone Ltd. generic, is for some reason, it relaxes my legs and arms more than the Geneva/Sandoz generic. Not such a bad thing when I am stressed and my muscles are locked up :-)

Can anyone shed some light on this. And is there any ideas on how to bring back the ''poop-out'' of benzos? Higher doses just make me groggy with no additional anxiolytic effect.

Is it possible my Benzo receptors (or others) have been changed after years of these various meds? I have take Ambien for 3 or 4 years now also.

Greenstone is made by the manufacturers of the real xanax. I confirmed this with my pdoc today. I really like valium better as it is smoother, doesn't make me tired, and doesn't result in the rebound anxiety that xanax does. Fondly, Phillipa
