Lamictal--Itch after 3 years?

Posted by shoebox on March 2, 2005, at 14:29:35

I've been taking Lamictal (300 mg) for several years, and recently ran across a side effect profile that listed itching--not "The Rash", but itching--and my skin has been bothersomely itchy for a few years now. I'd chalked it up to any number of things, but now I wonder if the Lamictal has anything to do with it. Is it common to develop a rash to Lamictal after being on it for a substantial length of time? The itching ranges from allover/mild to site-specific/torturous, especially on my ankles and forearms.

I think you need to definitely rule out that it's related to the imfamous rash.

Also,are you on an SSRI?

When I was on one, I noticed I itched a lot and the pdoc said that can be a sign of Seratonin syndrome.

It almost felt like there were little worms under my skin, I would scratch and scratch to no avail.

Be careful.. call your pdoc or even pharmacists and keep us posted.

Hmmm. I'm back on Prozac and before that it was the usual parade of other SSRIs. Not familiar with "serotonin syndrome", will google it. I never had this problem in the old days, before I got properly Dxed and started on mood stabilizers. Maybe it's the combo? Arrgghhh...

My understanding about The Dreaded Rash was that it was caused by insufficient titration. My pdoc started me super-low and graduated very slowly. I've been on the stuff since 2001.

WHY CAN'T SOMETHING JUST WORK AND STAY WORKING??????
