Tomorrow I will start again Anafranil, the only med that seems to help my adhd-like problems. I've tried almost everything available, at least where I live, and nothing seems to help my concentration problems as Anafranil does. So, what's the point, I've been here so many times that I could write a book on Anafranil side-effects instead of asking but I need support I suppose, so if there is someone else on this thread who's taking Anafranil I would like to exchange experiences with him/her.
My actual syntoms are extreme laziness and weakness, anedhonia, difficulty in concentrating, organizing and the whole adhd package, no anxiety and no depression (even if I cannot say I'm happy), no motivation, low sex desire (and this is new to me, maybe I'm mild depressed too), sense of emptiness. Let's see what happens

Hi,
Which Anafranil side effects do you find most problematic?

> Ed.Ed, my answer will be strange. Anafranil worsens my mood, and least at first, and makes me shy and less interested in people. I get too much aware of what I'm doing and this is exactly what helps me for studying and reading and organizing but it's the same thing that sucks in social situations. I don't care so much about the 'official' side effects as I care about the fact that it makes me a weirdo. But it's the only thing that works, and this is fun, isn't it ? Are you on Anafranil ?

I've been using a low dose of Anafranil for 5 weeks now. I had planned/hoped to go up to 75 mg, but was finding the dizziness was starting to become really bothersome (my blood pressure tends to be on the low side, so I imagine that the Anafranil was just exacerbating that). So, I stayed at 50 mg for a week and then went back down to 25 mg. I am sure that such a small dose is not providing any significant benefits. The pdoc also had me continue to take 10 mg of Celexa, which I have forgotten to take for the past 5 days.
At 50 mg of Anafranil, I did not notice any improvement in the adhedonia I had been experiencing. However, I recently added some additional natural supplements, and have noticed an improvement in motivation and enthusiasm. What I am taking is NADH (7.5 mg) and DMAE (250 mg). It is early yet, but I think both of those supplements have made a difference for me at least.
I wish you luck with the Anafranil. I had such high hopes for it, but unfortunately, I will not be able to tolerate a high enough dose for it to make a difference. The dizziness and weight gain (7 pounds in a month without changing my eating habits, and actually eating less the first couple of weeks).
Take care.
Tamara
