I have been off effexor for about 3 weeks and started taking wellbutrin about 2 weeks ago. I had an allergic reaction..red bumps all over back that spread to neck and chest. Took prednislone, benadryl and zantac (from hospital visit) and it cleared up. The doctor at the hospital said it was from the wellbutrin.
I did not heed this advice because I had a strong feeling that it was from the effexor. I am still taking the wellbutrin.
I no longer have the rash but I am itching non stop. I feel like there are bugs biting me all the time! It is unbearable. I am curious if this is a common withdrawal symptom of effexor and if so, how long until it ends? Is there anything that can ease the itch? Help!

I just kept taking the Benadryl. It took a few weeks, but it finally went away.

I had the same reaction to the Wellbutrin but it worked so well on my lingering depression that I just took Claritin and stuck with it.
Do not scratch, and use soothing lotion on the areas. Products made with shea butter feel good.
