Cymbalita - Underwhelming?

Posted by Dan Perkins on December 13, 2004, at 20:09:46

Is it just me (and it might be), or is there surprisingly little buzz and surprisingly few people who have positive reviews to give of Cymbalta. I haven't paid too much attention to this topic because Cymbalta just seems to me like the ultimate "me too" knockoff drug that offers little improvement over any of ther other meds that are out there now.

Despite my lack of attention to the matter, I still have to say that I am quite surprised that there hasn't been more buzz about this drug flooding the airways and message boards such as this one. The only reviews that I have read of it thus far have surprisingly little that's positive to say about Cymbalta. I was never expecting much of this drug, but I was expecting at the very least some positive first-hand reports.

Yeah, I just read that right after I posted. I don't want to rag on the drug w/someone who is just starting out. I hope it works well for you.

Good luck!

I've had positive results from cymbalta although the lower doses didn't do much for me.I've tried nearly every drug out there and I really like this one.

I've had very positive response to it. I was taking 30mg/d with noticeable improvement not just in mood but in social interaction. I'm still not good at initiating conversations with strangers, but strangers have started initiating conversations with me - which definitely wasn't happening before Cymbalta. I moved up to 40g/d a couple days ago to see if I might get to a point where I take the initiative. I'll keep moving up if necessary, depending on whether side effects worsen.

It did take a couple months to get side effects under reasonable control. I now have to take Trazodone to assure sleep and 4 to 6 fiber tablets a day to combat constipation. I still have trouble getting an erection, but that's slowly improving (perhaps due to 1g/d of L-arginine and 240mg/d of ginkgo biloba) and I am finally able to climax some of the time. I never lost my libido and genital sensation, as I did with Luvox, which is partly what encouraged me to stick with it.

I made the switch to Cymbalta from Lexapro one month ago and have definitely felt better (both depression and anxiety). I started at 30 mgs for three weeks and now am finishing my first full week at 60 mgs. The only problem is that I am having major issues with sleep. I have ativan and restoral but neoiter sems to work well and I feel crummy the morning after. Any thoughts?

Cymbalta is a bust. Just another crap antidepressant. If anything, it causes insomnia, severe apathy and anxiety. I hate it. It's made me more suicidal too.

keeppluggin,

Insomnia got better for me during week 6 to 8 while on Cymbalta. I don't have insomnia anymore.
