Has anyone tried the THC pill (I think it's called Marinol)? Does it work for depression/anxiety? How does its effects compare to smoking weed?

Don't know about you, but I always get profoundly depressed when I smoke pot. I get really attuned to everything that I am missing in life by being so depressed, which only serves to make me much more depressed.

I haven't tried this pill, infact I hadn't even heard of it, but following on from what Dan said, I find smoking pot really relaxes me and makes me feel 'fuzzy' inside - kind of like I am in love! I have a friend who smokes it all the time and is extremely paranoid now, could this be a side effect if you take the pill?

I don't know about the side effects of Marinol, but smoking pot made me paranoid after awhile. Once I realized the pleasant time was starting to be outweighed by the paranoid time, I stopped smoking it. What was the point? Initially it was rather wondrous, but not later.

******************************************That's adverse effects from rxlist.com, a place worth checking out.
It's also a Schedule III drug in the US, so getting it would be a problem. You wouldn't be able to get refills called in, you'd have to take a physical prescription, multi form, from your doctor every time. Since one cautionary note says that it shouldn't be used in patients with depression, because of a tendency to make the condition worse, I very much doubt a doctor would even consider prescribing it for you. (It's a very controlled substance, and is the drug of last resort for it's approved uses.)
Sorry to put a damper on your enthusiasm, dude.
By the way, there's an article about pot that mentions Marinol in the current issue of Scientific American. Basically says, though, that smoking the real thing works better than the pill form...

Thanks. Do you have the Scientific American link. By the way, for the person who said it could dampen sex drive - I disagree. Pot always makes me more horny, and has been a good solution to SSRIs that have reduced my sex drive.

Is it available in the USA? Not very sure I would take it. But admit pot was the greatest when I first started smoking, no sexual problems. And at the end realy started to suck. Yes now I have paranoia, lot the just didn't seem real.
