I tapered off of Lexapro several months ago with horrible withdrawal symptoms. Most of the symptoms have gone away except for what I call the brain zaps, which feel like electric shocks through my head when I move my eyes. I took a 5mg valium a couple of days ago to help get some sleep and surprisingly, the next day was the first day in months that I didn't get the ZAPS!!!They were back after about 24 hours. I took another 5mgs and they were gone again!! Has anyone else experienced this? Or can anyone explain why this helps? I'm a scientist, but I can't figure this one out.

Yes it is horrible. I experienced extreme dizziness, nausea, vomiting, lethargy, I could go on. I called my Dr. and he told me that Lexapro doesn't have any withdrawal effects. Funny that the symptoms started within hours after I started tapering the dose. Hang in there. If you can get a few doses of valium or klonopin it may help.

I called my Dr. yesterday because I feel like I just got hit by a truck. He still claims there are no withdrawal effects from lexapro. Meanwhile the zaps continue....
