Please, I woudl like to know:

1- what is considered as a "normal" dose for Dekapote to treat bipolar disorder ?

Hi, it depends on whether you are talking about stopping an intense manic episode or a maintenance dosage to prevent them. Very high doses (above 2000mg) are often used to get mania under control. Then depending on how severe the manic spells you tend to suffer, the routine daily dose typically ranges from about 375mg-1500mg/day, sometimes a little higher or lower. Some people "spot treat" the manias and don't take maintnenace dosage at all.

There are doctors who add Topamax to offset the weight gain from Depakote.
