Hi! I was taking 60mgs Adderall (30xr, 30 standard), 60mgs cymbalta, 150mgs tofranil pm, and 4mgs Klonopin. My doctors (I see a psychologist, get Rx'd by an MD b/c of a shortage of psychiatrists in my area) added 15mgs Abilify and want to taper the Klonopin and replace it with BuSpar, probably in the upper-dosage range. Is BuSpar really effective? I have reservations about non-benzo anxiolytics, since I've tried so many ADs for anxiety without success. That said, the abilify has calmed me down significantly...its almost like the ultimate "chill pill". So, anyway, the ending combo would be 60mgs Adderall, 60mgs cymbalta, 15mgs Abilify, 150mgs Tofranil PM, and BuSpar, probably in the 40s-60mg range. Any thoughts? Suggestions?

It's worth a try, although, Abilify and Cymbalta have strong 5-ht1a binding potential. I don't know if buspar (5-ht1a agonist) would provide any more antianxiety properties.

I would be cautious about the Buspar. My personal experience with it was not that positive and many people think it is not nearly as effective as a benzo. Studies have shown that people who have taken benzos before Buspar find it to be a sugar pill. Why is the doctor suggesting this change? Is this a good reason or are you dealing with a benzo phobic doc? My other comment about your drug combo would be if it ain't broke don't fix it.

The only thing that strikes me is the imipramine (Tofranil). If the duloxetine is working, drop the imipramine and vice versa. Also, I haven't heard a good word about buspirone on this board, yet many people have praised clonazepam. I would insist on remaining on the clonazepam if I was you.
