Hello I'm new in this site and I'm from Greece so I don't understand all the words you use like OCD (?) etc. I had a psychotic episode three years ago (I was in England and fortunately I was hospitalised there) and have been on risperdal 6mg and effexor 100mg(that's my lowest dose till now). I have gained around 20 kilos (40 or more pounds) and this has added to my lack of confidence (I'm scared of meeting old friends that knew me when I was thin). I tried to cut down on risperdal but had as you call it racing thoughts which were accompanied by sexual excitement (why is that? shall I make a thread just for that?) and of course paranoias. I had to go back to 6mg. Can you lose weight while being on risperdal and effexor or do you have to stop them first? Why do you gain weight? I have all these questions about my condition and medication that my doc who is my therapist too is reluctant to answer.

Thank you. I found some interesting facts about weight gain/loss in the site you gave me. It's about time to talk to my doc.
This is the end of the thread.
