Olanzapine Stopped working

Posted by babak on September 22, 2004, at 1:47:51

Hi everyone

I have been on Zyprexa for the last four months. Initially, it was fantastic except that I lost what was left of my libido. This is despite loss of libido it not listed as one of Zyprexa's side effects.

After about a month it started to loose its beneficial effects. I tried to combine it with Prozac after reading an article about their unique combination but I didn't notice any difference.

The problem is that some days I feel fine and it seems to be working but then it stops working the next day. Worse than that is that the proportion of bad days to good days is growing and even the good days are not that good anymore.

Has anyone else had this experience?
Has anyone lese felt loss of libido on Zyprexa?
Where to now?
As far as drugs of the same family, is there anything newer that Zyprexa on the market?

I thought I had finally after 15 years beaten this damn depression but now I am back in prison again.

Thank you all for your feed backs.
Babak

You have several options. Abilify and Geodon are antipsychotics that are great for some and both came onto the market after Zyprexa (olanzapine). I take Geodon and it works great for psychoses and depression. I had no positive benefits from Zyprexa, but Geodon has been a godsend for me. Seroquel, Risperdal, and Clozaril are also other alternatives.
