Does anyone know? It seems like they are similar. But i know cymbalta just got approved. I took effexor and it did NOTHING for me at all. Jon's posts make cymbalta sound very appealing, but If its like effexor...i dont know....

well, it works on the same systems (serotonin and norepinephrine) but my understanding is that effexor doesn't really do much for norepi until a fairly high dose. Cymbalta supposedly has a more "even" action on the two neurotransmitters.

see crazychik, it did the opposite for me. I was tired all the time and i was still depressed. I guess meds do affect everyone differently..
Also, I read your newest post. Dont worry. About 6 years ago, I stopped all my meds, cold turkey. (only side effect was major headaches) and i was actually okay for about 3 years. Over time I started feeling normal again, but after a few years the depression crept back. But, since you have been off meds for only a short time. i wouldnt fret. You will be okay......
