I'm at 75mg of Lamictal titrating upwards to 100mg and am noticing sharp pains in my right elbow mainly but some in my knee also. Is this common with Lamictal?

Not sure if this is common with Lamictal, but I know that I had joint pain (mainly elbows and knees) and did not realize it was from Lamictal until I stopped taking it after 5 months. I am now taking Lexapro, am depression free, and have no elbow or knee pain, although I still have some insomnia and fatigue.

Why did you stop the Lamictal?

At that time, I was also on Prozac, Remeron and Lithium and still my unipolar depression persisted. That was when I decided to stop all the ADs I was taking and try something totally different, Nardil, an MAOI. Although Nardil lifted my depression in less than 2 weeks, I just could not get any quality sleep and eventually after 4 months, of being sleep deprived, and getting more and more depressed because of it, I decided to quit Nardil. I have been on Lexapro for 7 weeks now and am depression free, although I still am fatigued, lack energy and motivation. Hopefully, this will subside. I am looking into taking something to boost my energy. I have been taking AD's, mostly SSRI's, SSNI's and TCA's for over 13 years.

Hi. I wasn't able to tolerate Lamictal long enough to know how it would affect my joints; however, I just wanted to mention that I had severe joint pains on Celexa. It was a lot like damp weather-induced athritis in that the Celexa would "reactivate" pain from old injuries, fractures, etc. This also happened occasionally when I was on Zoloft.
This is the end of the thread.
