I am now on 2mg of Xanax XR once daily. My pdoc says that this should be enough to last me from morning through till I go to bed. However, I feel it wear off as the day goes on. Some have suggested taking 1mg twice daily, but then would I not have HALF the dosage I need in me at all times? confused...

By taking 1 mg twice a day...8 hours a part ( you can break the scored tablets in half..I have done it for years)You will keep a more steady flow of the medicine in your system.
Try it...give it a 3 days

As mentioned several times before, tell your doctor you want to try 1mg twice daily. You have two choices here, continue taking it the way you are with bad results, or change to 1mg twice daily and see how it works for you. If your doctor has a problem with this, go to another doctor.
