Started on lamictal and ramped up slow, like pdoc said. At 150mg started getting constipated real bad. Pdoc said take milk of magnesia. I told him I didn't want to get on it and become laxative dependant. He informs me that milk of mag works different from other laxatives and that I won't become dependant. Looking in the drug references, it says , you can become dependant on it! Why would he tell me that? Any one else have any ideas? Thanks

I don't know why he told you that but Lamictal has the opposite effect on me, if you know what I mean :-). I would trade you and I would go ahead and try the suggested remedy if only for a few days and start metamucil or another fiber at the same time.

when i was in the ramping up early stages of lamictal i got terribly constipated. like prunes every day constipated. now though i have gone back to normal as i got to about 250 mg. i am now at 300mg. maybe it's just the system getting used to the drug no matter how much is in your system. or maybe it's the higher does i'm taking. all i know is it's ok now. i'll be interested to see if you swing back too.
